For those who were so taken with ‘Press Here’ and if seen, other work by Hervé, this new book will need very little promotion and even less persuading to acquire it.

Suggested reading age is 2-6 but last night Miss Small found it absolutely great fun and thoroughly engaging. Invited to play with mixing colours by ‘put your hand here’,  and ‘gently rub the blue’ or ‘close the book and push down’, the text becomes magical and the child reader is right in the middle of the colour play.

Beautifully designed with extra sturdy board covers, rounded corners and sumptuously thick glossy pages – the vibrant colours against the white space are stunning. The inclusion of the occasional splotch or paint-y fingerprint lend to the effect of the child actually doing the finger-painting.

This is an exquisite book to enjoy with little ones and absolutely superb for using in the classroom to teach about colours and colour mixing. Of course, some messy but fun paint play would be the perfect way to follow it up!

Watching Small’s delight as she mixed and splodged through the book was a truly joyful experience. For that alone I cannot recommend this highly enough! It is sure to be revisited on many sleepovers in the future I know. We just LOVE it!!

“Use your hand to mix up the colours. It’s like magic.

Smudge, rub, shake and have fun!

An exuberant invitation to play.

‘Irresistible.’ – The Wall Street Journal”
